I am not exaggerating when I say I don't think there is a better looking Lexus that has ever been made. Sure it isn't as taunt at the LFA or as nimble as an M3 but I still want it more than the 3

Saw an RC in the wild a month back. Indeed looked great.

I don’t agree with the fact that it has Nike logos for LEDs, but other than that; nice car indeed.

They may not be as nimble as an M4, but it rubs my jimmies in a better way than the Bimmer ever could. Say it with me: HNNNNNNGGGGGGHHHHHH

Why did Clarkson have to take a huge dump over it?

I was genuinely let down by that thing... Yes, the engine sounds fantastic and it’s stupidly fast, but it feels so disconnected, so... soulless?

And the transmission is so lazy, there is a 3-4 second gap between the moment you floor it and the kickdown.

I borrowed one from my coworker while he got a ride in the Fiesta ST I had that week... and we both wanted to drive the ST at the first stop.

Pictured : both cars.

I do not recall the LFA every taunting people? I think you meant taut. /pedantic

And, yes, the RC F is a gorgeous car. It does not photograph well, and you really must see it in person. All those compled curves lose their depth in a 2D picture.

Really? It was that bad to drive? I figured the straight line speed would make it a blast

Because it’s Clarkson and he can’t have anything be mediocre. Thing is, he’s not entirely wrong.

The RC F is much more of a GT than the M4. It is too heavy, and it certainly does understeer too easily. But, the typical buyer will never worry about either of those because they aren’t going to take the car to a track.

I think a better comparison would be to the previous generation Shelby Mustangs. Those are big, heavy, two-door coupes with loads of power. They don’t track well, unless it’s a drag-strip. But they are very fast, and reasonably comfortable if you’re a bit older, which is usually the only people who have the money to buy one. The RC F is just a more reliable version of those.

I agree. I have been seeing a lot of them too surprisingly. They must be selling like hot cakes.

They give it a distinctive and identifiable flair.

I think it's actually because this car isn't an M4 competitor - it's the spiritual successor to the E24. Both are about the same size, both look fantastic, both make great noises, and both are more grand-tourer than sports coupe.

I don't care. Maybe it will lower the resale value so the rest of us can buy this secretly beautiful car.

Yeah sure it’s fast, but simply going from 0 to 100 does get old after a while... especially since all you have to do is mash the loud pedal and look at the digital gauge climb.

that V8 sounds amazing, though.

It’s not a bad car by any mean (in sport mode, the transmission is fast enough), but it’s not a driver car, I think.

I may get it for a week in the coming months, I’ll be able to elaborate more then.

I’ve seen a few in the wild. Looks like they took a 90’s Supra and proceeded to give it plastic surgery performed by the doctors featured on Botched.

Did you put the trans into Sport/Sport+ at all? I’ve driven one and it doesn’t take that long to kick-down.

Perhaps the car was in Eco mode?

It is a bit hazy when it comes to feedback, but that’s not really what it’s about. Of course the FiST would have more of a connected feel, it’s not designed to be super comfortable. The FiST is a feisty little terrier yapping about how big it is, while the RC F is a Rottweiler. It’s big, it knows it, and it won’t be aggressive unless provoked.

It’s a Lexus. They don’t lose resale.

In Sport and Sport+ it’s fine, and it doesn’t always hesitate that long in Normal mode. But on 2-3 occasion I tried to pass someone, mashed the throttle and nothing happened for a few seconds.

And let’s not talk about eco mode. It feels like a CVT.

We are awaiting from a final word from Lexus, there may have been a software update that wasn’t done before we drove it.

Yeah the FiST was an extreme example, but the M3-4 comparison is also valid; similar size and price, but the BMW involves you in the driving, whereas the Lexus simply hauls you along.

Sounds like it needs the software update. Eco mode in that car is a stupid option. One does not buy an RC F for the gas mileage.

I know Lexus is responsible for that ///M comparison, but it doesn’t feel like the right one. If anything a better comparison is the previous generation Shebly Mustang. A large, heavy, two-door coupe with loads of power that is really only fast in a straight line, and stil comfortable for a long journey. Those Mustangs do not track that well, just like the Lexus.

The M3/4 are very, very good cars. But you really must be a professional driver to get everything out of them. The RC F is much more approachable for the average driver. And of the few we have sold, those buyers are all slightly older men who are looking for a ‘fun’ car and will not be taking their RC Fs to the track; maybe the drag-strip, but no track-days.

Surprisingly, the RC F tracks really well... yes it’s portly, but the diff does a wonderful job keeping the car stable.

I’d argue that a large percentage of M3-4 won’t see the asphalt of a track either... but Lexus HAD to compare themselves to the leaders.

The ones we’ve sold did not have the amazing TVD. I hear very good things about it though.

Oh, no argument there. There is no way Lexus could compare their new super-coupe to an out of production Mustang and not be laughed at by the entire car-buying public. Even if it is the better comparison.

True, but the best feels alive even when driven normally.

Any car can be fun on a racetrack. Only a few are fun when driven around town (without driving like a retard, that is).
